Personally, I would not send anything because it might be a scam. But if you know the person, and you trust him/her. You will need to get wiring instructions from this individual.
    You will need..

The name of this person- Beneficiary Name
His/Her Bank account number in France
The name of the French bank
    The Bank’s address in France
    Their Swift Code
Their Code Banque/Guichet- Which is the branch number -where the beneficiary holds their account

    Amount to be sent
    Currency- USD Or Euros

You could make a private transfer. Get his phone number, go on the internet; then see how much money (pound) equals to the France coin. Once you’ve got that, make him send over the thing, and then you can send over the cheque.

I’ve never tried it this way. Hope it helps. o_0

If you are worried about internet scams regarding finance. You can open an account with only a very limited amount of cash so you dont have to worry about fraud and some one clearing everything in that account. Then you can use internet banking and pay on line.Always be doubly sure about financial matters, lots of scamests around.

PayPal is the preferred way to send secure payments on eBay. That the seller doesn’t have a PayPal account is not an issue. Please visit this site for more information. http://pages.ebay.com/paypal/buyer/

Bank-to-bank transfer is another way of making payment. Your bank can facilitate for such transfer provided you have the needed information of the beneficiary. Such information includes the name of the beneficiary, the address, the name and address of his bank, the beneficiary’s account number with his bank and his IBAN.

If you send check in Euros or Pounds, the seller’s bank will have to clear the check (meaning send the check back to the drawee bank for collection) and this may take a couple of days.

It is best for you to visit your bank so you will get assistance with your transaction.
