   INVESTMENT BANKS are BANKS which take care of the INVESTMENTS of the public and the corporates.
   They are just like our Commercial Banks who Borrow and Lend. But Investment Banks INVEST in risky ventures (Venture Capitalists), Borrow (accept deposits) from general public/corporates.
   Investments Banks lend to seed capitalists and budding enterpreneurs based on the nature of busiess they undertake.
   They also invest funds (deposits) HIGHLY PROFITABLE SECURITIES. But as it is said, where returns are high, RISK is equally high.

   There are many good books available on Investment Banking. Here are a few u may try:

   investments banks are An individual or institution which acts as an underwriter or agent for corporations and municipalities issuing securities.

   Most also maintain broker/dealer operations, maintain markets for previously issued securities, and offer advisory services to investors. investment banks also have a large role in facilitating mergers and acquisitions, private equity placements and corporate restructuring.

   Unlike traditional banks, investment banks do not accept deposits from and provide loans to individuals. also called investment banker.

   they have no such functions as borrowings and lending…they play major role in bringing IPOs.they have big corporate clients foe whom they work….
